The title of this blog was taken from this post on The Grackle, which is a blog that, for the most part, documents someone’s backyard in the Cherrywood neighborhood here in Austin. Bookmark it if you like bookmarking things, and/or look for the picture of the leopard moth (it’s my favorite). As to this place becoming a desert, I mean that both literally and figuratively: on one hand it just doesn’t rain much (and it’s only getting warmer), and on the other our culture makes every landscape eventually barren, i.e. it promotes death and makes future life impossible. Not all life, however, is culled; just like in a literal desert, there are some species, such as cacti and fruit bats, who prefer such conditions.
